Solar Power - SHCP Customers
History...
The Federal Government's Solar Homes and Communities Plan (SHCP) started out as the Photovoltaic Rebate Program offering $4,000 rebates in 2000. By the time the Photovoltaic Rebate Program was changed in November 2007, the program had helped to install 10,000 solar systems and was receiving an average 153 applications per week.
As part of the Rudd Government's election commitments, the program was allocated $150 million to provide increased rebates of up to $8,000 to 15,000 homes over five years. In May 2008, a means test was placed on the solar panel rebate to ensure support was provided to the homes that most needed it.
The number of applications for the rebate grew from 420 per week in May 2008 to approximately 6,043 per week in May 2009. The program was suspended on 9 June 2009 and is now replaced by the Solar Credits Scheme.

He will also provide you with a Compliance Certificate for your records, and will forward a copy of this compliance report to all necessary authorities. The completed Installation Report, including system photos, will be sent to your home for you to send on to the Federal Government;
- You put the signed application forms in the postage paid envelope provided and pop them in the post…. We provide the point-of-sale discount for your RECs straight away and your Government SHCP $8,000 rebate will be returned in around six (6) weeks!
