How does a Grid Connected Solar System Work?
A Grid Connected Solar Power System is a solar system designed and pre-engineered for homes and small commercial buildings which are connected to the electricity network (grid). It provides a way for you to produce your own power for your own consumption and thereby reduce your electricity bill.

When your Grid Connected Solar Power System generates more power than your household uses, any excess electricity flows into the grid effectively spinning your electricity meter backwards and building a credit against your bill. Thereby saving you even more money!
This means that while ever you are at work the Grid Connected Solar Power System will still be generating power and pushing it into the Grid thereby reducing your overall power bill.
What is Included in a Grid Connected Solar Power System?
A Grid Connected Solar (PV) System consists of three main elements:
+
+
- Solar Modules - Capture the sun's energy and convert it to electricity using photovoltaic (PV) cells. This electricity is collected and used in your home.
- Inverter - Changes the DC solar power into useable 240 volt AC electricity which is the most common type used by most household appliances and lighting.
- Electricity Meter - New generation meter spins both forward and backward depending on electricity generation.
What Size Systems are Available?
The size of the Grid Connected Solar System you install is only limited by budget and roof space. Systems are measured in terms of the generating capacity (kW). Typically homeowners and small businesses will install a system with an initial capacity of between 1.0 and 2.0kW, although we can install systems up to 10.0kW.
Often, owners choose to install an Invertor with a larger capacity so that they can expand their system in years to come with the simple addition of more panels if they choose.
The cost of the system is dependent on system generating capacity, ease of installation and to a great extent the quality of the components you install. Dingo Solar, has a range of systems from budget systems to top of the line systems using industry leading suppliers such as BP Solar & Suntech for Solar Panels and BP Solar & SMA for Inverters - the largest and most reputable suppliers in their respective fields in the world.
All Dingo Solar Power Systems come with:
- 5 Year Warranty on Installation Workmanship
- 25 Year Warranty on System Performance (backed by the manufacturer)
- Minimum 5 Year Warranty on Inverter up to 10 Year for BP Solar
